BASIC RIDERS COURSE
The MSF Basic Rider Course is a research-based and action-oriented core curriculum offered to riders of varying levels of experience. This course teaches fundamental skills and is not intended to produce the superb riding skills of an experienced rider; rather, it provides instruction in basic entry-level skills for a new rider to begin practicing and developing the mental and motor skills important for safe street operation.
The Basic Riders Course includes basic motorcycle operation, maximum effective braking techniques, turning skills, obstacle avoidance maneuvers, classroom instruction and ten hours of “on cycle” training. Rider coaches for the program are all friendly, knowledgeable and experienced motorcycle operators who are nationally certified by the Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF) as well as the Florida Rider Training Program (FRTP). We strive to provide a positive / low stress learning environment.
COURSE DESCRIPTION
The Basic Rider Course consists of 15 hours of instruction including approximately 5 hours of online training and 10 hours of intense riding on the parking lot range. Classes are scheduled every weekend
- Saturday 7:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M
- Sunday 7:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M
MSF Basic eCourse
We provide all classroom materials, helmets and motorcycles. Early sign up ensures participation (class size limited to 10). A prerequisite for attendance in the Basic Rider Course is the completion of the MSF Basic eCourse. The MSF Basic eCourse is a highly interactive 5-hr. online program that provides riders of all skill levels with the basics of motorcycling. With integrated graphics, photos and video to illustrate the lessons, this included program allows you to control the pace of your learning. The eCourse must be completed within 30 days prior to the class start date. Please do not register for an eCourse prior to registering for the Basic Rider Course. A unique Enrollment link and instructions will be sent to you approximately 10 days prior to your face-to-face Basic Rider Course that will allow you to take the eCourse at no additional cost.

Upon successful completion of the Basic Rider Course, graduates are exempt from further testing at the Division of Driver Licenses Office and may be entitled to insurance premium discounts through participating insurance companies. Please note that the Basic eCourse alone is NOT accepted as a license waiver by any state’s department of motor vehicles, or as a license to ride a motorcycle or as a learner’s permit.
